Fine Art Friday–Nature’s Stripes

A grouping of images here full of color and texture for your Friday.  Once again, loving those fall colors and the stripes of cranberry in this field.  Plus a tiny view of a fave, Sankaty Head Lighthouse. Inspired to make a fall cocktail with seasonal cranberries?  Try this Cranberry Cobbler from Bon Appetit. Yum.

I’m heading up to Boston for a wedding tonight at the gorgeous Boston Pubic Library.  McKim, Mead, and White’s “Palace for the People” and love…a winning combo. Can’t wait…have a great weekend!

Fall is in the Air–Nantucket, MA

There is finally a chill in the air!  I probably won’t be writing exclamation marks after that statement in a few weeks, but for now it’s nice to say goodbye to the humidity and hello to autumn.  Judging by the amount of blog space that I’ve dedicated the change in season, you may guess that this New England gal loves this time of year! Even our local NYC bodegas are spruced up with mums and sunflowers.

Here are a few more images from Bartlett’s Farm and Pumpkin Pond Farm to get you into the season! Happy Tuesday.

Fine Art Friday

A bit of random knowledge (may come in handy on Jeopardy! someday?) for your Friday…
Sunflowers
-State flower of Kansas
-National flower of Ukraine
-A favorite of Van Gogh
-Grow from 5 to 12 feet

It’s the end of the season for this flower, but how amazing is this pattern?  Happy Friday!

Fall Escape–Nantucket, MA

Here are a few shots from a fall getaway last weekend.  Though it rained every day except for the day we arrived and the day we left, it was still a fun weekend of hot tea, fires, pumpkins, and sand.  More to come, but here are a few from our first afternoon–a quick jaunt to an empty beach, a swim (!), and a necessary stop at Cisco Brewery.  And that black spot in the sky above the water?  A monarch butterfly…they were everywhere!  All in all a pretty amazing afternoon- just look at those fall colors!  Happy Wednesday!

Baby Jack–9 Days Young–New York, NY

Great Irish name? Check. Beautiful window light? Check. One adorable baby boy? Check. Two beaming parents? Check Check.  Does a newborn portrait session get any better than this?!?  I first “met” John Patrick (Jack) at his Mom’s baby shower last month, and boy was she ready for him to arrive!  He was obviously listening and made his debut three days before his due date in mid-September.

It was a pleasure to visit the family of three last week and capture this handsome young lad.  I’m always reminded of how lucky I am to be welcomed into a newborn’s home to record this memorable time.  And Jack’s parents seemed to be old pros only 9 days in!  I also loved photographing his nursery and these adorable letters that adorn the walls.  O’Hanlon clan, it was a pleasure to photograph these early days of your new family, and a joy to welcome another babe to the Upper West Side.  I can’t wait to see this little guy again soon!
