Rain. Again.

Eiffel Tower Reflection, Paris, March 2006

It seems that April showers did not get the memo about departing on May 1st.  To brighten yet another rainy day, here’s a shot where the rain actually makes the setting more beautiful and dynamic.  Yes, Paris in the rain (cue music).  I lived here in 2001 but this photograph is from a memorable trip in 2006, when my now husband “put a ring on it”.  The rain thwarted his plans to propose on the banks of the Seine, so instead he got on a knee–not easy for a 6’6″ guy at a French cafe table–in a teeny-tiny restaurant on the Ile Saint Louis, and the rest is history.  Except that I was so bewildered that I responded “I don’t know, are you on one knee?”  Romance!  But of course I said yes.

Tip of the day- Don’t be afraid to photograph in the rain.  And brides, there is a way to turn that rain into romance!   Umbrellas and wellies can add that certain “je ne sais quois” to documenting your big day.  Check out these rainy shots below, courtesy of Elizabeth Anne Designs (L) and Elaine Marie Photography (R).  I love how her bouquet and boots coordinate with the groom’s tie and boutonniere.  Happy rainy Wednesday.
